Born in Canada and raised in Mexico, Dr. Manuel Garcia-Toca earned his medical degree from Universidad Anahuac in 1999. He completed general surgery training at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brown University in 2008, followed by a vascular surgery fellowship at Northwestern University in 2010. He is board-certified in both general and vascular surgery and holds a master’s degree in health policy from Stanford University.
Dr. Garcia-Toca is currently Chief of Vascular Surgery at Grady Memorial Hospital and Associate Professor of Surgery at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. His clinical expertise includes open and endovascular management of vascular trauma, aortic dissection, thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysms, critical limb ischemia, extracranial cerebrovascular disease, and dialysis access.
His research interests focus on innovative strategies and outcomes in vascular trauma, cerebrovascular disease, dialysis access, aortic pathology, and healthcare policy. He is also dedicated to advancing global surgical education and fostering international collaboration. He serves as the Councilor representing the Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) to the World Federation of Vascular Societies (WFVS).
